1. Introduction to Terms & Conditions

1.1. These terms and conditions (“Terms”) apply to AI Empowered, inspired by EO Cape Town (“the Event”), organised by One-eyed Jack (Pty) Ltd. (reg: 2012/018442/07) (“the Promoter”), in association with EO Cape Town, CapeTalk, and Daily Maverick (“the Partners”), and are accessible on www.aiempowered.co.za (“Website”). These Terms incorporate and must be read in conjunction with all other applicable Promoter rules and policies, as updated from time to time.

1.2. The terms “user“, “you” and “your” refer to all persons accessing the Event and/or Website. The terms “us”, “our” or “we” refer to the Promoter and its affiliated entities.

1.3. We may update these Terms at any time. You are responsible for regularly reviewing the Website for changes. Changes take effect immediately upon posting. Continued participation or use of the Website after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

1.4. By accessing the Website or attending the Event, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms and any other policies or rules issued by the Promoter. Breach of these Terms may result in denial of access to the Event or Website without refund or liability.

2.1. These Terms apply to all participants (“Attendees”) of the AI Empowered Summit (“Event”).

2.2. By purchasing a ticket, registering, or attending the Event, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

3.1. All ticket sales are final. No refunds or exchanges will be granted unless the Event is cancelled by the Organiser.

3.2. Tickets are non-transferable without prior written approval from the Organiser.

3.3. The Organiser reserves the right to refuse admission or remove any person at its discretion to ensure the safety, security, and success of the Event.

3.4. The Event is intended for adults aged 18 and over. Persons under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must obtain written permission from the Organiser.

4.1. The Organiser reserves the right to make changes to the event schedule, speaker line-up, content, or venue at any time without prior notice.

4.2. In the event of a cancellation due to force majeure (including but not limited to acts of God, government regulations, pandemics, natural disasters, war, terrorism, or any event beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser), the Event may be postponed, rescheduled, or moved to a virtual format without refund.

4.3. If the Event is cancelled entirely by the Organiser without rescheduling, a full or partial refund may be issued at the Organiser’s sole discretion.

5.1. All Attendees must behave professionally, courteously, and respectfully toward fellow attendees, speakers, and staff.

5.2. Harassment, discrimination, abuse, or disruptive conduct will not be tolerated. The Organiser reserves the right to remove any individual who violates this code without a refund.

5.3. No weapons, illegal substances, or hazardous materials may be brought into the Event venue. The Organiser reserves the right to inspect bags and belongings for security reasons.

6.1. The Organiser strives to provide an inclusive and accessible environment. If you require assistance or have accessibility needs, please contact the Organiser in advance so appropriate arrangements can be made.

6.2. You agree to comply with all venue and governmental health and safety protocols, including those related to hygiene, distancing, and screenings. Refusal to comply may result in removal without refund.

7.1. By attending the Event, you grant the Organiser and its partners permission to record, photograph, and film you. You consent to the use of your image, voice, and likeness for promotional, educational, and commercial purposes across all media formats.

7.2. All Event content, including presentations, materials, recordings, and digital assets, remain the intellectual property of the Organiser or the respective content creators.

7.3. You may not record, reproduce, distribute, or use Event content without prior written consent.

8.1. The Organiser is not responsible for any personal injury, loss, damage, or theft incurred at the Event.

8.2. Attendees participate and move within the venue at their own risk. Please take necessary precautions and follow all venue guidelines.

8.3. The Organiser is not liable for the actions or services of third-party vendors, exhibitors, or partners operating at or in connection with the Event.

9.1. Personal data submitted during registration will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and used for Event communication, operational updates, and marketing.

9.2. Your details may be shared with Event partners and sponsors for promotional purposes, unless you opt out during registration.

9.3. The Organiser will take reasonable steps to protect your data, but cannot guarantee absolute security of electronic transmissions or storage.

10.1. You agree not to use the Website for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful activity including hacking, data scraping, or transmission of viruses.

10.2. The Promoter reserves the right to suspend or block access to the Website for violations of these Terms.

11.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

11.2. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Event shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa. Before pursuing legal action, the parties agree to first attempt to resolve disputes amicably through mediation or arbitration, where appropriate.
